Deep Rest for Mothers

somatic movement, restorative yoga, mindfulness & personal inquiry

Saturday 14th March, 2–5pm
Shackleford Village Hall, GU8, Surrey

The day before Mother's Day

Give yourself permission to pause.

Yoga Pose Practice

Mothering is physically demanding, emotionally exhausting, and often thankless. The needs change as your children grow, but the relentlessness doesn't. Between the mental load, the emotional labor, and the sheer effort of showing up day after day, your own needs have slipped to the bottom of a very long list.

You know rest matters, but finding time feels impossible. And even when you get a moment, guilt whispers you should be doing something—or for someone—else.

But here's the truth: you cannot pour from an empty cup. Rest isn't a luxury—it's the bedrock of your health, your capacity to meet life's demands, and your ability to show up as the mother you want to be.

This afternoon is different.

It's a rare space where you're not needed by anyone else. Where you can step off the emotional rollercoaster and simply be. Held by two practitioners who've supported hundreds of mothers and understand exactly what you're carrying, you'll move through gentle practices designed to restore your nervous system, reduce stress, and prevent emotional burnout.

You'll leave feeling genuinely rested—and with practical, sustainable strategies you can actually use in daily life.

What to expect:

We begin with gentle somatic movement to release the physical tension you're holding and bring you back into your body. You'll then settle into deeply supported restorative yoga poses—using bolsters, blankets, and props so you can truly let go—allowing your nervous system to down-regulate and find balance.

Through compassion-focused meditation, you'll practice self-kindness and learn to recognize your limits without judgment. We'll explore mindfulness tools that help you move from reactivity to responsiveness—so you can meet both your needs and your children's with more skill, patience, and presence.

There will be time for personal reflection, small group discussion, and questions with two experienced practitioners. You'll connect with other mothers who truly understand, away from the overwhelm of social media, in a space that deepens self-trust rather than comparison.

You'll leave with a sense of what you need going forward - simple, realistic strategies so the benefits extend far beyond this afternoon.

Tea, sweet treats, and genuine connection included.

This session is for you if..

  • You're running on empty and ready to refill your cup

  • You want to respond with calm instead of reacting on autopilot—and learn simple tools to help you get there

  • You're exhausted by the emotional demands of motherhood and need ways to reset

  • You're claiming this as your real Mother's Day gift—rest, renewal, and practical strategies you can actually use

No yoga or meditation experience necessary—just bring yourself exactly as you are.

Your hosts:

Louise and Sam understand firsthand the demands of motherhood. Between us, we've supported countless mothers through the postnatal period and beyond, and we know that thriving—not just surviving—requires the right tools and permission to use them. This afternoon, we're creating the space we wish every mother had access to.

I am so impressed with your approach, sensitivity and care.  It was like having a warm blanket surrounding and enveloping me.  A wonderful calming and restorative session, especially appreciated as my life has been difficult these last few years.  Your sensitivity and understanding gave me a stronger sense of not just the need to consider myself but that it is essential and not self centered.
